Turn-Key Health, a population health management company serving payers and their members with serious illness, has recently highlighted key market trends that will impact palliative care and its adoption by the nation’s healthcare payers. Their analysis includes data-sharing and specialized predictive analytics, value-based care, and patient/caregiver engagement that enhances satisfaction with care.

During the recent National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization’s Management and Leadership Conference, representatives of Turn-Key Health emphasized the critical importance of optimizing the value of predictive analytics by including evidence, clinical protocols, and patient outcomes to achieve goals.

“In 2016, data-sharing was a key element in payer-provider collaborations to curb costs and steer patients toward high-quality providers. For 2017 and beyond, a growing number of health plans and Accountable Care Organizations state that predictive data analytics to identify high-risk patients coupled with the delivery of value-based care will be a priority,” said Ian Duncan, FSA, FIA, FCIA, FCA, MAAA, adjunct associate professor, University of California Santa Barbara.
