In this Program Spotlight, Julie Lehn, PharmD, of Banner University Medical Center in Pheonix, AZ, discusses the value of adding a pharmacist to the palliative care team. Originally in primary care, Julie shares what inspired her transition to work with seriously ill patients, and how being a member of the palliative care team has led to an additional clinical perspective, and ultimately better patient care. Additionally, Julie discusses the Society for Palliative Care Pharmacists (SPCP), which aims to unify and advance pharmacists’ work in palliative care, pain, and hospice, as an extension of providers’ services.

"When I saw the disparity in palliative care providers available, and the huge number of patients that qualify for palliative care, I thought it was the perfect place for a pharmacist to practice."
